ABOUT VEASEY & SONS

Back in 2009, Eastbourne fisherman Chris Veasey had an idea to cut out the middleman and start selling his locally caught fish direct from his boat to customers at East Grinstead Farmers Market.

His fish was greatly received and so fisherman Chris and chef Dan decided to join together and open a wet fish shop in Forest Row.

A lot has happened since we opened in April 2010; we now have a great reputation for quality and service and a loyal following.

CARING FOR OUR SEAS

Traceability, sustainability & fishing for the future

Our locally caught fish can be traced right back to the hands of the fisherman who hauled it in. We pride ourselves on our locally caught seafood such as rod & line caught Sea Bass from Eastbourne, day boat netted Soles from Newhaven and our pot caught Lobster & Crab from Poole.

To provide for the families of our fishermen & fishmongers we need to do what we can to ensure the stocks of fish in the UK are managed to be able to provide for our future generations. We choose our wild seafood that has been caught using low impact & fuel efficient (LIFE Fishing) and targeted methods such as hand diving, rod & line, pots & traps, static nets & demersal otter trawls.

We promote responsible fishing with regards to “ghost fishing” (lost fishing gear at sea) and fishing gear recycling when equipment reaches the end of its life.
